How does the Discount Program work?

Even if you travel on the Chesapeake Expressway only once a week, the Discount Program offers great savings. With a membership fee starting at $20 for the first 6 months and $3.33 per month thereafter, you'll see the savings really add up. The more you use the Chesapeake Expressway Discount Program, the more you'll save.

How do I become a member?

You must have a Virginia E-ZPass to enroll in the Chesapeake Expressway Discount Program for a discounted toll rate.

Please call the Chesapeake Expressway 757-204-0010 or visit the Chesapeake Expressway Administrative Office at 168 Toll Plaza Road in Chesapeake to enroll in the Chesapeake Expressway Discount Program. Membership fees are required.

Note: You must Open a Virginia E-ZPass account before enrolling in the Discount Program. You can get your E-ZPass online, via mail/fax/phone, at the Greenbrier DMV office or through the E-ZPass On-The-Go program at the Chesapeake Treasurer's offices at City Hall, Western Branch, Deep Creek and South Norfolk. You must contact the Chesapeake Expressway directly at 757-204-0010 to enroll in the Discount Program.

How much are the tolls?

If you use the Chesapeake Expressway frequently, you save money by joining the Chesapeake Expressway Discount Program. Discount program members pay just .75 cents for a 2 axle vehicle - a real savings over the regular toll of $3.00 or the peak weekend toll of $6.00.

If you commute Monday through Friday, look at the savings!

Please note: E-ZPass is not guaranteed to work on motorcycles. If you ride a motorcycle on the Chesapeake Expressway, CASH tolls are $1.00. The Electronic Toll Collection System does not differentiate between motorcycles and cars. Therefore, if you have an E-ZPass registered to a motorcycle you will be charged the $3.00 Regular Toll and $6.00 for the Peak Weekends.

How do I maintain my Discount Program membership?

It's easy! After the initial 6-month membership period, monthly fees will be automatically deducted from your prepaid Virginia E-ZPass account. If for any reason a Member's E-ZPass account balance is insufficient to pay Discount Program fees, the Member will be removed from the Discount Program and re-enrollment in the program by the Member will require pre-payment of the six-month fee.

Can I have more than one E-ZPass in my Discount Program account?

Yes, membership fees are charged per Virginia E-ZPass enrolled in the Discount Program.

What if I move or get a new car?

Please notify both the E-ZPass Customer Service Center and the Chesapeake Expressway. Both your E-ZPass Account and Chesapeake Expressway Discount Program will need to be updated.

*Note: Member agrees to use the E-ZPass transponder only on a vehicle with the number of axles identified on the application form. If the transponder is used on a vehicle with a higher number of axles than listed on the application, the Member will be charged the full non-discounted toll for the axle count recorded.

As a Discount Program member, what if my E-ZPass is replaced or I wish to add another E-ZPass?

You must enroll the new Virginia E-ZPass in the Chesapeake Expressway Discount Program.
